Week Intensive - Intermediate

Monday July 14th to Friday July 18th. 10am to 4pm. Taught by Lindy Barletta.
This week intensive is perfect for potters looking to push their skills and progress to larger, more challenging forms. This course is for adults aged 18 plus and is designed for improvers, intermediate and advanced makers.
The course will cover some of or possibly all of the below depending on time:
Day 1: Prepping and centering larger amounts of clay. Throwing large bowls to certain diameter with a view to joining as moon jars or lamp bases.
Day 2: Joining leather hard parts or adding coils and throwing Japanese sushi plates from a baseless cylinder (or incense burners).
Day 3: Square Oven dish, thrown and altered, with handles Throwing large plates and platters .
Day 4: Throwing off the hump. Set of saki cups, saki jug and 2.5kg tray. Turning work from day 1-3
Day 5: Finishing off any work, turning bases, slip decorating and incising leather-hard work, decorating moon jars. Can also be used as a free throwing practise session.
Day 6: Glazing all of the above mentioned work. Demonstrations in dipping, pouring, spraying, use of underglaze and oxides in decoration.

Please bring an apron (or 2!), notebook and favourite tools if you have any. We will break for an hour lunch around midday, lunch will not be provided but we encourage you to bring a packed lunch or there are many local cafes/shops.
The course has a maximum of 6 people. The £600 includes tuition, equipment, practise clay (work not fired). The course fee will include a firing allowance of 4kilos at leatherhard stage. But we don’t want to curtail your creativitiy or productivitiy - so you can weigh and pay for additional fired work at £10 per kilo to include 2 firings and glaze. Participants must be available for all dates of the course.
For specialist courses we have a cancellation policy of up to one week before the course start date. A refund will be issued, minus 10% taken as a handling fee. If you cancel less than one week before the course start date the course is non refundable. If you are unable to attend or miss a session whilst the course is ongoing this is non refundable.
